- Dig up dahlias, elephant ear, caladium and other tender bulbs for winter storage.
- Start planting spring bulbs late in the month after a couple of hard frosts.
- Divide and transplant perennials, groundcovers, and bulbs after foliage starts dying back.
- Remove old mulch and leaves from rose bed and add a fresh winter mulch. Wait until the leaves have fallen from the deciduous trees to maintain the neat appearence longer.
- Add grass clippings and mulched leaves to the compost pile.
- Prune stalks of summer perennials to the ground. DO NOT PULL UP!
- Add lime to the lawn and beds IF NEEDED.
- Harvest fall crops such as pumpkins and apples and take advantage of the last of the mild weather to plant pansies and cabbage.
